CHALLENGE UP! Hike the Summits of Hanging Rock With Me For a GREAT Cause!

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Xtreme Hike program takes hikers through some of the most scenic trails in the nation to raise funds and awareness for cystic fibrosis.  Xtreme Hike is about reaching new heights physically and philanthropically.  It is a journey of passion, determination, and personal triumph, as much as it is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people with cystic fibrosis.

Why I Hike the CFF Xtreme Hike and How YOU Can Help

Eight years ago, my daughter, Caroline, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, a life-shortening, progressive, genetic disease that affects the lungs and the digestive system. Over time, Caroline has had serious challenges regarding her health. As her mother, I will do whatever I can to fight this devastating disease, so…….
On Saturday, October 22, I will be participating in a high-adventure fundraising event, Xtreme Hike, which is sponsored by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of the Carolinas. I will be hiking 22(+) miles in one day at Hanging Rock State Park in Danbury, NC, in support of Caroline. My goal is to raise $2,500 (or more!) that will go towards finding a cure for CF.
Fortunately, hiking has always been one of our family’s favorite activities, so I am very excited to be taking on this challenge to raise awareness and funds that will help Caroline give CF “the boot”!
I am currently training so that I will be able to complete this hike in one very long day (eight to ten hours), rain or shine. From hiking the Xtreme Hike for the last two years, I know firsthand it is not a “walk in the park”. My hiking five to ten miles in one day is not unusual, but hiking over 20 miles in one day is definitely a challenge; however, no matter how tough it might get, it will be nothing compared to what Caroline goes through every day.
Right now, the CFF is on the verge of incredible scientific breakthroughs which could actually include, 'The Cure,' but it cannot do it without vital donations. There is no government funding for CF research, so private fundraising is critical for Caroline and others who battle Cystic Fibrosis in the fight for their lives. Your help will make a significant difference to many. I hope that you will make a donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on Caroline’s behalf.
Tax-deductable donations may be made here online:
